My name is Megan D. and I'm a blogaholic.
Hi, Megan.
I first heard the word "blog" in 2003, soon after my fourth daughter was born. I was unfamiliar with templates and hosts and blog readers and aggregators and awards and popularity contests and all that. I just liked to write. So I started writing blog-like entries on the homepage of our old family website. A friend of ours eventually fed them into a blog template for me so he could begin leaving comments on my smatterings.
The rest, as they say, is history.
I'm not the top of the totem pole in the blogosphere. Truth be told, my introverted nature comes out here every bit as much as it does in person, and I'm not bounding from blog to blog leaving comments and directing a bunch of traffic my way. I'm not worried about my place in blog world.
I write because it's the way I've always processed the world, from the time I kept journals in 2-pocket folders, hidden between my mattress and box springs, assuming someone in my family was finding them and reading them. I've always been suspicious like that.
I write to preserve a tiny piece of our family. I don't really think blogs will be around by the time my kids are in their 30's and might care what I had to say while I'm in mine, but I will eventually hit "print all" four times and close the shop for good.
But until then, I type away, processing our own version of the simple and profound, chronicling my own process of attempting to walk in the way of the redeemed, taking full advantage of what I know to be a truly amazing free gift of grace.
Other "Abouts"
I'm married to Craig. He is the Mulder to my Scully. He's also the editor of my rough drafts (I would have made much higher grades in college had we been married then). We joke about how, if we'd done the online dating thing, we would have never never been matched together, but that's what makes our life together so interesting. For better and for worse. With or without you. Amen and amen.
We have four great kids. Really, we do. They aren't perfect, but whew! Can you imagine how hard it would be to live with four perfect children? All my flaws magnified even more than they currently are? No thanks. They are sweet girls, learning through living. We do it together.
I'm a director for Classical Conversations, right here in St. Louis. If you found me from a CC search, welcome!
I'm part of the God's World Publications writing team. I write for the weekly current events section "News Now" of the GWN website, bi-weekly blog entries on family and education for the WORLDMag.com, and the occasional story for the hard copy GWN mags. I have deadlines and everything. Wow. My kids like the magazines (and we do too), so it's fun to now be a small part of what goes on.
I'm also an occasional crafter. By occasional I mean that sometimes I get taken over by my fabric stash and sewing machine and there's nothing to be done for it but to ride the wave out until all the crafting gets out of my system. Each stint usually lasts 30-45 days and are approximately 4-5 months apart. I can't help it (except for when I can).
